“Doctor Who” is a British science fiction and BBC produced TV show. The storyline is based on time traveling. The mysterious alien time travelers, known as “The Doctor”, travel through different time zones, to save the universe from evil aliens and other threats. These Doctors have a space and time ship known as “TARDIS” to travel in time. In the initial seasons, the “TARDIS”, appears like 1950s police box, as for some reasons it has lost its ability to change its appearance in accordance with the surroundings. Every Doctor is accompanied by some companions and during their time journey, they face various foes. The series first premiered in 1963. Till now, the series has seen 27 seasons with ten doctors. When a Doctor dies, he immediately regenerates into the new incarnation. Though, the eighth doctor appeared in the television movie, when the series jumped off the screen in 1989 with completing tenure of seventh doctor. The in 1996, it came with eighth Doctor in a television movie based on the series. Eventually in 2005, the series was once again launched with Ninth Doctor. The most recent series, with tenth doctor started in April 2008 and ended in July 2008. Now the series is bringing out a set of four Specials to be aired in 2009 although, the full fledge fifth series is set to premier in early 2010. This is not confirmed whether the series is coming back with tenth doctor or the eleventh, as the ninth Doctor has not yet died in the series. Moreover the actor David Tennant, playing the tenth Doctor has announced that after four specials, he’s not coming back to the series.

The storyline in each series remained almost the same. An alien Doctor confronts alien threats with the help of TARDIS’s advanced technology and his own brilliance and bravery. They keep on updating and advancing the TARDIS. This is also revealed in the series that these Doctors work for Time Lords from another planet and follow their orders and work as per their given targets. When they finish their assigned job, they die and another reincarnation happens. Every Doctor has been shown acquiring different traits than the previous one, as if is completely a different human being. Some Doctors are funny, who make fun of dangers and have their distinctive style of tackling the troubles. Some Doctors are the true heroes and serious in nature and keep a straight view on their targets. These different traits and behaviors of different Doctors and their relationships and attachments with their companions, add color to the story. Being the most entertaining and long running series of its times, it has secured a place in the Guinness World Records. Nonetheless, it has got BAFTA Award for being the Best Drama series in 2006.
